Carnelleys Camp Lake Naivasha

(tel 0722/260749 or 0722/329465). CARNELLEYS with 4-person, en-suite bandas for Ksh5000, twin rooms Ksh1600, dorm bunks Ksh600 per person and camping Ksh400 per person. The welcoming and convivial ambiance here, with a relaxing bar-dining area decked in cushions, is serious competition for Fisherman’s Camp next door among the independent and overland crowd. The bar-restaurant does slightly unusual things like smoothies, Camembert samosas and beef wraps.
This camp has amazingly clean toilet and shower facilities and I am impressed with having hot water all day from the kuni boilers.
The camp is very safe and quiet unlike Fishermans camp next door which in our experience was very noisy..loud music played by patrons and seemed like no control.
This campsite! Just an hour and a half from Nairobi - easy to find along the South Lake road, just before Fish Eagle camp. There are picnic tables you can move to your site and its very grassy and shady. The views out onto the lake are stunning.

Hippos wander about nearby, but the other side of a ditch and electric fence after dark. So you can go down with a torch and see them BUT BE CAREFUL OF TOUCHING THE ANTI HIPPO FENCE WHICH I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY.!
The guy in the pictures is one of the team Francois van der Merwe a South African working in Nairobi.
